Dr Mattar attended medical school in

Midlands. She initially had career intentions within the field
of ENT and undertook a clinical fellow year and core surgical
training in Severn. She then realised that her passions
did not lie within this specialty and she made the decision to
undertake training within psychiatry.
She completed her core psychiatry
training in the West Midlands and has now commenced higher
specialty training in forensic psychiatry. She currently sits on
the secure services working groups for substance use and physical
health. She has continued to expand her interests in teaching by
completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, taking
opportunities to teach core psychiatry trainees and medical
students from The University of Birmingham.
